How to unscramble letters with WordFinderZ

Type every letter you have into the box above and press Find words. WordFinderZ checks each entry in the dictionary you picked and shows the words you can spell, longest first, with the points each one scores. Click any word to see its definition and which game dictionaries accept it.

For blank tiles, add a ? (or a space) for each one. To find a word that hooks onto letters already on the board, open Advanced and set starts with, ends with or contains. Those letters are treated as board tiles, so they don't have to come from your rack.

Pick the right dictionary

Word lists differ between games. North American Scrabble uses the NWL/TWL list, most other countries use Collins (SOWPODS), and Words With Friends is built on the ENABLE list. A word like QI is fine almost everywhere, while some Collins-only words will be rejected in a US club game. Choose the list for your game so every suggestion is playable.

More than an unscrambler

For today's puzzles, use the Wordle solver to narrow down answers from your coloured tiles, the Spelling Bee solver for hive puzzles, or the crossword solver for missing letters. Browse five-letter words, two-letter words and hundreds of other lists.

Frequently asked questions

What is WordFinderZ?
WordFinderZ is a free word finder and unscrambler. Type the letters you have and it lists every valid word you can make, grouped by length and scored for Scrabble, Words With Friends and other games. It also solves Wordle, Quordle, Spelling Bee and Letter Boxed puzzles and publishes daily hints.
Which dictionaries do you use?
For English we search the NWL/TWL list used in North American Scrabble, the Collins (SOWPODS) list used everywhere else, and the ENABLE list behind Words With Friends. We also have Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Turkish word lists. Definitions come from WordNet.
How do blank tiles work?
Type a question mark or a space for each blank tile (up to three). Letters filled by a blank are shown underlined and score zero points, exactly like in the game.
Is using a word finder cheating?
In a rated match, yes, so check the rules you play by. Most people use WordFinderZ to settle arguments, learn new words, practise between games and study after a game to see what they missed.
Is WordFinderZ free?
Yes. Every tool on the site is free and works on phones, tablets and desktops without an account.
