How Betweenle works
The game shows two words that bracket the answer alphabetically. Each guess replaces the upper or lower bound, so the window between them shrinks. A marker shows roughly where the answer sits between the two bounds, and you have a limited number of guesses. Finishing sooner earns more trophies.
Tips for narrowing it down
- Binary search. Guess a word roughly halfway between the bounds; each guess then halves the field.
- Use the position marker. If the marker is close to one bound, guess near that bound rather than the middle.
- Think letter by letter. Once the first two letters are fixed, focus on the third. Alphabetical order works the same way from there.
- Know your word lists. Our five-letter words and words that start with pages are useful for finding a word in a tight range.
