Words of Wonders, or WOW, is a crossword-and-letter-wheel game in which each group of levels is set at one of the world's famous landmarks: ancient monuments, temples, palaces and natural wonders. You swipe letters on a wheel to form words, and correct words fill a small crossword. Clearing a group of levels takes you on to the next landmark. Extra valid words that aren't in the crossword are collected separately and earn coins, which you can spend on hints. Early levels use short wheels of four or five letters. Later landmarks bring seven-letter wheels and much larger grids.
Enter the wheel letters, and the finder returns every word of three letters or more those letters can spell. WOW doesn't use two-letter words, so they are left out. Within each length, everyday words are listed first, because the crossword answers in WOW are common words. Rare dictionary words further down the list are more likely to count only as extras, or not at all.
To find one specific answer, count the boxes in the empty slot and tap that length above the results. If crossing words have revealed some letters, add them to the filters under Advanced. A revealed first letter goes in Starts with, a revealed last letter in Ends with, and a revealed pair in the middle in Contains. The list usually drops to one or two candidates.
Most levels include a word that uses every letter on the wheel, and it is often themed. On the RAMYIPD wheel above, the long answer is pyramid, which fits the Egyptian levels. Once it's in, it reveals letters in most of the crossing words.
A wheel can show the same letter twice. TEMLPE has two Es, and the long answer, temple, uses both. When you see a duplicate, the long word almost certainly needs it.
Because levels are grouped by location, the vocabulary often nods to the theme: stone, sand, tower, river, king, gold. If you know where you are, guess themed words of the right length first.
A single hint in the longest word reveals a letter that also helps one or two crossing words, so it is worth more there than on a short word.
WOW's daily puzzles and events use the same mechanics, so the finder works for them without a level number. If you want more coins, work through the shorter results after you've filled the grid. Each valid extra word you enter adds to your collection. To practise word patterns between sessions, our four-letter, five-letter and six-letter word lists are a good place to start.
Take a six-letter wheel as an example. In the finder, C, A, S, T, L and E make 94 words of three letters or more. Three use every letter: castle, cleats and the rare eclats. Below those are 22 five-letter words, 41 four-letter words and 28 three-letter words. A level only uses a small set of common words as grid answers, so if the long slot has six boxes, castle at the top of the list is the obvious first try. Fill in the short slots from the top of each group, then go back for extras if you want the coins.
